# The History of Herman Yes, I've had Herman as an OC for probably years. Hes gone through quite an evolution, originally being really cringe in my opinion. Birmingham has always been a concept, and I've had to work around it. It all started when I first played G&B, I forget how many year(s) ago, and just made a cool looking character in the customizer, and picked the Brunswick Leib-Battalion as my favorite regiment. The idea for his musical.. motif??-- being Godsmack came from when I was on the car ride home from some kind of state testing, and me and my dad were listening to cultured metal with his phone connected to the car via bluetooth. He introduced me to Godsmack then, and played Voodoo, which I mistook for Metallica at first listen. Mostly because of the lyrics. I was still fixated on G&B then, and as soon as I heard that song, it came to me. G&B's beautiful animation, and Herman got me into animating with Moon Animator 2, and helped me brainstorm more of Herman. I would likely be a different person if I had never played G&B that day with a friend, and came up with the character, which is a little stupid and embarrassing to say. From then on, I improved at animating and posing, and checked out more Godsmack, which in-turn inspired me more on Herman's story. I improved the story, the animation rig appearance, and met more people who had G&B ocs. Although I hate alot of the old stuff I made of Herman, and his old lore, I can still appreciate it for what it is, and what it led to. That being said.. I still feel ALOT of cringe when I see my old work. # Historical/Old Works This section contains most of the old stuff for Herman, including all sorts of media and text. Prepare for cringe.
This is the very first rig I made of Herman, and the first REAL rig I made for animating. I call it Herman V1, or v1 for short. If you ever hear me mention "v1" or anything like that, this is what I'm talking about. I really don't like this rig, despite it being somewhat nostalgic to me. The scar is BARELY visible, the welds for the guns were improper and dont even work anymore, and just about everything is wrong with this rig. His stubble is repulsive, as well.
This is my eventual second try at it. Its okay, its just the hair is STILL wrong, and the welding is terrible. This is Herman V2. This is just.. too bad to be considered good, and too young to be considered nostalgic. Its just bad. Also, his eyes look like theyre dilated. At least Old Blood was conceptualized at this stage..
This is R.A.I.D Herman. I had originally intended to take the story of Herman into a different direction, with him joining a resistance militia organization against the blight. I then realized this was entirely stupid, and now RAID Herman is scrapped and retconned. At least he has a cool axe! The rig looks terrible though.. This did give me the idea for him having a blunderbuss, though.
Ahh, yes. Old V3. How I miss and fear you. This is when I got serious, and when I had my skills more developed. Unfortunately, during the early development stages for V3's design, I had unknowingly used STOLEN ASSETS AAAHHHHHH (please dont come to my house fez) It had stayed like that for a little while until some random contrib or mod pointed out his blunderbuss was stolen, which then prompted me to check out other parts to see if they were stolen as well. Some parts of this are just wrong like his face and BLJ Canteen. Also a lack of blunderbuss, although that'd go on to be fixed. If you're concerned, no, I fixed Herman's current latest rig and it no longer uses ANY stolen assets. That has been fixed for a while now.
